Hometown: I was born in Taiwan and immigrated to Canada when I was very young. From there, I moved all over BC every few years: Victoria, White Rock, Surrey, then Kamloops. My folks still live in Kamloops, so whenever someone asks that’s what I normally say.
Education/Training: I’ve got my undergrad in Technical Theatre at Capilano University and I was actually offered a spot for my masters abroad. So, I’m floating that around (maybe) and have other professional development courses scheduled for the upcoming year.
I’m weird, as I’ve always liked school, researching, and studying. I usually have some sort of training or development project on the back burner. A lot of my training has been practical work as a technician at theatres across BC. Weirdly, I’m also a trained Track and Field official and coach.
What are your professional roles in the industry?
My specialization is scenic design and paint; most of my contracts fall under those umbrellas. My “consistent” work is as a technician as that’s my educational background. I enjoy directing as well as props.
I’m honestly down for anything creative, and have worked some weird job titles over the years. I’ve done just about everything outside of acting (just ain’t my cup of tea). I’m also a professional theatrical photographer and have written and produced my own work.
What inspired you to pursue a career in theatre?
I grew up going to the Chemainus Theatre with my Baba (my grandmother) and I think that’s when I really fell in love with theatre. I was never a good actor, nor did I have the desire to be one. I think actors are incredible and amazingly gifted, but it’s never been a strength or want of mine.
But, I remember seeing how the lights sparkled and the beautiful sets and quickly decided that’s what I wanted to do with my life.
Who or what has had the greatest influence on your creativity?
My Baba was probably the biggest influence in my creativity. Her name was Ola Sage. She was a pianist, choral conductor, and music educator. I’m actually a choral singer in my spare time myself. She was the kindest and extremely artistically gifted. Going to the theatre and attending her concerts was a big influence in me pursuing the arts.
I also think being neurodivergent has greatly influenced my creativity, for better or worse. I’ve come up with my weird scenic concept with this odd brain of mine. I grew up as an undiagnosed only child and was by myself a lot. As a result, I’m incredibly imaginative. Full worlds lived in my head, and I think living in fantasy as a child has likely influenced my creativity as a designer and creator.
Which plays and musicals have you worked on?
- Most recently, I worked with TUTTs (Theatre Under the Trees—not Stars) for the last two seasons as a PA and in Accessibility & Environmental Responsibility. (Project X)
- Emerging Set Designer for Fates Fest 2026 (Promethean Theatre)
- Head of Paint and Photographer for all mainstage productions during the 2025/2026 season at Capilano University.

Career goals?
My goal is to create immersive theatrical designs and continue to have fun doing so. That’s all I really want from my career: to work with people who love theatre and storytelling as much as I do! Eventually, I’d love to teach theatre history and design at a university level. I love teaching and have been an educator for about 5 years.
I wasn’t given many opportunities or learning experiences for technical theatre growing up. So, my ultimate career goal is to make tech theatre accessible to young people; especially young queer, female, minority, or disabled individuals like myself.
For now, I want to keep developing and growing my skills, creating a career that’ll positively impact me and the people I work with.
